The NSQHS Standards - Short Notice Accreditation

_
_
_

All Public and Private, Hospitals and Day Procedure Centres in Australia are mandated to be Accredited to the
National Safety & Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards 2nd Ed. V.2 (2021).  From July 2023, the Accreditation Assessments will be ‘short notice assessment’. This process replaces the existing announced and voluntary short notice assessments of Hospital and Day Procedure services.  Assessors will spend at least 75% of their time in clinical and operational areas.

How will this affect your Ward/Unit/Department?

What does this mean for you?

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed to support Nurse Unit Managers and Nurse Managers in leadership roles at Ward, Unit or Service level or in Safety & Quality roles to meet the national safety and quality standards and ensure continuous improvement in patient-centred care.

Note: This workshop is relevant to Hospitals and Day Procedure Centres only. This workshop does not address the standards for Aged Care or General Practice.

Key learning outcomes

At the completion of the program participants will have developed skills and knowledge to enable them to:

  • Understand the recent changes to the Australian Health Services Safety & Quality Accreditation Scheme, and the National Safety & Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, 2nd Ed. version 2 (2021)

  • Understand the Clinical Governance roles and responsibilities in the NSQHS Standards 2nd Edition as they apply at the Ward/Unit/Department level.

  • Integrate safety and quality systems into normal business, consistent with the changes to the NSQHS Standards 2nd Edition.

  • Ensure effective partnerships with consumers are in place at both the individual and department level.

  • Use the information gained from normal business as evidence in the Short Notice Accreditation process.
