About the course 

The quality of early relationships and the environment in which a child is raised significantly affects their mental health and well-being. Using a strengths-based, family partnership approach, child and family healthcare professionals provide psychosocial and practical support and guidance to new parents while building capacity in their parenting skills.
This face-to-face workshop will equip participants with core knowledge and skills required across a variety of healthcare settings to optimise health outcomes for children and their families.
  

Who should attend?      

This course is suitable for healthcare professionals working with children and their families. 

 

Key learning outcomes

On completion, participants will be better able to:
• Define child and family models of care
• Incorporate family partnership principles into healthcare practices
• Understand the principles of maternal psychosocial assessment
• Explain the different screening tools used to assess the growth and development of infants and children
• Demonstrate family-centred communication skills
