This webinar be hosted by Distinguished Professor Tracy Levett-Jones, and will be celebrating nurse leaders in the field of planetary health.  Discover firsthand the tangible contributions nurses are making within their workplaces and across the healthcare sector. 

 

Key Learning Objectives 

  1. Understand the significant role nurses play in leading climate change initiatives, promoting sustainability and advancing planetary health within healthcare.
  2. Explore the application of exemplary leadership practices in nursing sustainability, including setting examples, inspiring visions, challenging processes, enabling action and encouraging teams.

 

About the speakers

 

Distinguished Professor Tracy Levett-Jones - Lead, Planetary Health for Nursing & Midwifery Research & Education Collaborative

Distinguished Professor Levett Jones is a world-class nursing researcher who leads the Planetary Health for Nursing & Midwifery Education & Research Collaborative and the Empathy Initiative research group. She has written 12 books and over 250 journal papers. Professor Levett Jones published a compilation of case studies in 2023 “Celebrating Australian nurses who are championing planetary health and sustainable practice”.

Roslyn Morgan - Environmental Health Officer. ANMF.

Working as a nurse in Intensive Care, Ros introduced sustainability initiatives into her own department, and assisted others in similar ways. After joining the multi-site green champions group, Ros eventually took on the role of Sustainability Officer for the network. For the last 7 years Ros has worked as the Environmental Health Officer with ANMF (Vic Branch).

 

Justine Parsons - Clinical Nurse Consultant, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, John Hunter Children's Hospital.

Justine’s main clinical interests in neonatology have focussed on organ donation in the newborn, identifying and responding to deterioration, palliative care, feeding methods in NICU, neonatal networking and unit variations in outcome. Her latest passion has become introducing eco-friendly, sustainable products and practices to the NICU in trying to reduce carbon footprint.

 

Claire Lane - Founder, Save our Supplies

Meet Claire Lane, the compassionate and driven founder of Save Our Supplies (SOS). As a dedicated registered nurse with a specialisation in theatre nursing, she witnessed first-hand the alarming amount of clean medical supplies being wasted in hospitals. Determined to make a positive change, Claire founded SOS to collect and repurpose these supplies, redirecting them to communities in need around the world.
