Professor Brand’s presentation provides a thought-provoking exploration of uncertainty, particularly in the context of teaching and learning planetary health.  She emphasises the importance of embracing Indigenous knowledge systems and voices in this field, highlighting how they can guide us through complex environmental challenges with respect, wisdom, and a holistic understanding of the world.

About the speaker

Professor Gabrielle Brand MACN

Gabrielle Brand is a passionate nurse, teacher and qualitative researcher. She has over 18 years experience in health professions education. Her research interests include narrative medicine, health humanities, creative and critical pedagogy and co-designing education with healthcare consumers.. More recently her research has included planetary health education, integrating tolerance of uncertainty pedagogy into higher education and co-designing workforce education to address cognitive bias in healthcare. Gabrielle has published and presented her research in Australia and internationally, authored over 30 peer reviewed articles and several book chapters.
