About the program
Following the success of our five-day face-to-face Nurse Unit Manager Leadership Program, the Institute of Leadership is excited to launch the Nurse Unit Manager Leadership Program (Hybrid). This new format is designed to support nurses in balancing their time away from clinical duties while further developing their leadership capabilities.
With a unique blend of face-to-face and online learning, you will develop practical skills in managing yourself, others, resources, and operations. Learn through real-life case studies and examples presented by experienced nursing leaders in an interactive, supportive environment.
Who should apply?
The Nurse Unit Manager Leadership Program (Hybrid) is designed for current registered nurses with ambition to work in a management role and aspiring nurse leaders who are ready to take the next step in their career. This program prepares you to lead with confidence while contributing to the organisation success.

- Flexible hybrid learning with one-day interactive face-to-face masterclass, followed by four webinars held monthly
- Gain management skills that you can apply immediately to enhance staff and patient outcomes

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)

Minimum three years’ postgraduate experience

Hold or aspire to a Nursing Unit Manager role
- Capacity to commit to the full Hybrid program
Program objectives:
On successful completion of the Nurse Unit Manager Leadership Program (Hybrid), nurses will be better able to:
- Contrast available strategies to transition from a clinician to a manager
- Analyse the impact of organisational structures and processes on managing staff in a clinical environment
- Develop authentic leader qualities reflective of expected professional, organisational, and individual values
- Demonstrate positive interprofessional collegiality in workplace interactions
- Articulate the impact of effective resource management on improved health outcomes
- Determine organisational, regulatory, and legislative approaches to promoting a safe environment for staff and recipients of care.
