About the event

Join the NSW-Sydney Region for an evening of discussion about workforce, culture and professional practice, presented by Dr Elisabeth Black, CEO and Director of Nursing at Brown Nurses. The presentation will explore how workplace culture impacts on staff retention, workplace camaraderie and connection and describe strategies that can foster resilience to support nurses and improve psychological safety and wellbeing in the workplace. It will also identify levers that have been found to be influential in driving cultural change. This will be followed by a Q and A and an opportunity to network.

About the speaker

Dr Elizabeth Black FACN - Chief Executive Officer and Director of Nursing at the Brown Nurses

Since qualifying as a registered nurse and midwife, Elisabeth has developed an interest in specialty and advanced professional practice, models of care, nursing regulation and education. She has worked in a variety of clinical, managerial and leadership roles, and is committed to leading and influencing activities that will deliver an evidence-based, best practice approach to person-centered patient care. In 2015 Elisabeth was appointed by the Minister for Health of NSW to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of NSW as a Council Member and in 2021 was appointed to the position of Deputy- President, completing her final term in July this year. Through her work on the Council, Elisabeth has contributed significantly to the regulation of nursing in NSW, on matters relating to professional practice, performance, conduct and health. Elisabeth's substantive role is Chief Executive Officer and Director of Nursing at the Brown Nurses, a nurse-led, not for profit community nursing service providing care for clients who are vulnerable, marginalised, isolated and at risk of homelessness. Working collaboratively with partners across health to deliver evidence based and person-centred care to clients and ensuring the sustainability of the Brown Nurses Service into the future remains her mission driven focus.
