Nurses and chronic care workers in the health care portfolio are expected to have a high level of knowledge about diabetes. This course aims to ensure that your knowledge is up-to-date so that you can provide the best possible care to your clients





About the course            

Diabetes has reached epidemic numbers and it is imperative that all health professionals have an excellent understanding of how to manage the different types of diabetes. This course aims to give you the skills that you need in a variety of situations.   

 Who should attend        

This course is targeted at registered nurses, enrolled nurses and also those who work within the diabetes and chronic care portfolios in primary health care roles.

 Key learning outcomes

At the end of this session your knowledge will include:

•             What is diabetes

•             How diet and exercise can improve your health

•             The medications that are currently being used to manage diabetes

•             What complications a person who does not manage their blood glucose levels could expect to encounter

•             How your clients can manage their diabetes

•             How to prevent diabetes complications

•             The new glucose meters and how they work

•             Helping your clients with mental health and diabetes.

 Biography          

Therese Cameron is a highly respected, recognized and Credentialed Diabetes Educator and Care Coordinator. She is experienced in the education of adults and children with diabetes as well as medical staff, allied health professionals, corporate organizations, non-government organizations (NGO’s) and other primary health care stakeholders in the diabetes management and research arena. Therese is a registered nurse and Credentialed Diabetes Educator
