This short course is developed to assist you with the skills and knowledge to be able to develop and implement the principles of adult learning and feedback to staff in your workplace



 

About the course

The purpose of this workshop is to enable you as an educator to make use of the basic tools in your toolkit, from a hammer to break the ice, to the rule of three and finally to the light bulb when you inspire the uninspired to learn.

As a group we will workshop your tools so that you can go back to the workplace and apply what you have learned to your practice without the need for safety equipment and a hard hat.

This workshop, ‘The Clinical Education Toolkit’ is conducted over 1 day and is equivalent to 7 continuing professional development (CPD) hours.

Who should attend        

The Clinical Education Toolkit has been developed for Clinical Nurse Educators or any nurse interested in facilitating learning in the clinical environment. The toolkit will help you to plan and implement learning events, help you develop skills and knowledge to be able to develop and apply the principles of adult learning, and provide feedback to staff in your workplace.

 

Key learning outcomes

On completion, participants will be better able to:

•             Understand the core principles of adult learning - Andragogy

•             Create a positive learning environment by being able to determine different learning stylesand                          personalities

•             Understand how feedback benefits learning

•             Improve understanding of the correlation between Emotional Intelligence (EI) and Leadership

•             Model being an inspiration to others

 

Presenter Biography     

Ruth Green has had a wide and varied nursing career spanning more than 35 years, predominantly in the field of orthopaedics and education.  Ruth holds Graduate Certificates in Orthopaedic Nursing and Clinical Teaching, and has completed Master Nursing in Clinical Teaching. Before joining the Australian College of Nursing Ruth was the Nurse Manager of two clinical programs for MQ Health at Macquarie University Hospital (MUH). Ruth has held the roles of CNE Orthopaedics at MUH, Program Manager of the Diploma of Nursing at a private RTO and CNS Orthopaedics at the Sydney Adventist Hospital.
