Communities of Interest

ACN is dedicated to creating opportunities for our members to network with colleagues in similar areas of practice or professional interest, through our Communities of Interest (COI) - groups of members who share a similar area of practice or professional interest. COIs provide opportunities for members to enhance their knowledge and keep up to date with:

  • latest news
  • identifications of best practice
  • latest research findings
  • current research activities
  • major policy developments

Becoming an active member of a COI provides you with opportunities to:

  1. focus on identification of practice and policy issues
  2. inform ACN of role, practice and research issues
  3. support the dissemination of information
  4. contribute to ACN’s publications, such as The Hive.

ACN currently has 18 Communities of Interest, as listed.

Regions

Regions enable and support members to be actively involved in driving views related to local health care and nursing needs. Regional meetings provide networking opportunities, either face to face or remotely, and professional support for our members. They are a vital communication link between ACN and our member base, especially for our Policy, Membership and Representation teams.

Regions organise a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities throughout the year, in addition to hosting local networking events and working committees.  It is the role of the Regions to facilitate and influence discussions on regional/state issues related to health and nursing and provide opportunities for CPD. Members are encouraged to use their Region contacts to submit articles, give presentations and generally advance their careers.

Regions are organised by geographical location. On becoming a member of ACN you are assigned to a Region based on your residential location, identified by your postcode. The list of ACN Regions can be viewed here.

If you would like to change your Region, please contact Membership at membership@acn.edu.au.

Leadership Teams

It is our intention that each COI and Region will be driven by a Leadership Team consisting of a Chair, Deputy Chair, Communication Coordinator and Secretariat Support.
