About the event The History Leadership Faculty have invited guest speaker Dr. Tanya Langtree MACN to present the upcoming webinar ‘Doing history: Introducing historical research methods’ Key learning objectives: 1. Identify the key characteristics of historical research. 2. Outline the principles of source criticism. 3. Describe strategies that promote rigor in historical research. About the speaker Dr Tanya Langtree RN, BNSc, PGDipAdvClinN(NeuroSc), PGCertNSc(IntCare), MNSt, PhD, CHIA, JP(Qual.), MACN Tanya has been a registered nurse for over 20 years and is currently a Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery at James Cook University. Tanya is a Deputy Director of the JCU Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Research and is the lead for establishing the Barbara Hayes Nursing and Midwifery Historical Research Hub. She is also a co-author of a well-regarded Australian foundational nursing textbook. Tanya was awarded her PhD cum laude in 2020. Her PhD study, Notes on pre Nightingale Nursing: What It Was and What It Was Not, examined pre-professionalised nursing praxis using postmodernist historical methods. Tanya’s current research interests continue to have a historical focus including developing strategies to advance historical research in nursing and midwifery. Picture: Dr Tanya Langtree
