Immunisation bundle 1: Influenza 2024

Module 1: Content within this CPD consists of information relating to vaccine hesitancy and how to address the common concerns raised by individuals who may be vaccine hesitant.

Module 2: It is influenza season again, a perfect time for a refresher on who is recommended an influenza vaccination, who is covered under the National Immunisation Program Schedule (NIPs) and which brands are funded in 2024. Frequently asked questions and administration points are also included so that you will be fully prepared and updated on this year’s information to confidently vaccinate this season. The purpose of this CPD update is to provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge and resources to best educate and support the vaccination of people with Influenza.

Module 3: Aged care providers have a duty of care and responsibility towards the consumers within their care. This falls under the Aged Care Act 1997 guidelines. The quality of care provided is governed by the Quality Care Principles 2014, which include immunisation schemes for both staff and consumers. Ensuring immunisations across the life span is up to date is important so that we can protect those who are vulnerable and avoid an unnecessary burden within our healthcare system. During this session we will also be providing you with a refresher on the National Vaccine Storage Guidelines focusing on mobile or outreach immunisation clinics which will be vital in implementing catch-up programs as well as a pandemic response vaccine.

Module 4: During pregnancy, the pregnant person's immune system is naturally weaker than usual. This CPD will discuss the advice and the recommendations for vaccination before and during pregnancy as well as whilst breastfeeding to protect both the mother and baby. Through this learning module, the student will gain a deeper understanding of prenatal and pregnancy immunisation recommendations, as well as immunisation recommendations for carers
