Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is a significant public health concern in Australia, characterised by the problematic consumption of alcohol leading to clinically significant impairment or distress. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) reports that in 2022–2023, over 130,000 individuals aged 10 and over received treatment from alcohol and other drug treatment services, with alcohol accounting for 43% of treatment episodes. In this module, you will learn about the effects of alcohol use, including recognising signs, symptoms and associated risks. You will also learn how to manage withdrawal and explore treatment options for managing alcohol use disorder.
