According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (2024), drug-induced deaths are more likely due to pharmaceutical drugs than illegal drugs, with benzodiazepines being the most commonly involved single drug type indicated in drug-induced deaths. In this module, you will learn about the effects of benzodiazepine use, including recognising signs, symptoms and associated risks. You will also learn how to manage withdrawal and explore treatment options for managing benzodiazepine use disorder.
