Treating Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) use requires understanding a person's needs and choosing the right treatment setting. AOD services are available in different settings, including specialised services, primary health care, and tertiary health care. Other services are available through Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, pharmacies, youth services, mental health services, and correctional facilities. This module explores the challenges of addressing AOD use in diverse communities, including cultural competence when working with CALD populations, First Nations?Australians, and LGBTI individuals. It will also look at how to support these communities and improve health outcomes, with a focus on rural and remote areas.
