Deborah Magee is an academic at Charles Sturt University who is undertaking doctoral research titled: Nursing power, culture and practice in aged care settings in rural & regional Australia: A critical discourse analysis. Deb's presentation will report on a qualitative study privileging the voices of registered nurses employed in the aged care sector in rural and regional Australia. Perspectives on creating and sustaining positive organisational culture and cultures of care are explored. Critical Discourse Analysis supports exposure and insightful appreciation of the meaning/s of social actions, practices and power relations as identified by participants, including complementing and competing ideas on the factors that enable organisations providing aged care services to function effectively
