To mark International Nurses Day 2026, The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) hosted a special exclusive member webinar to inspire nurses to take charge of their careers and design the path they want. This webinar features award-winning Nursing Trailblazer Professor Michelle Barakat-Johnson MACN, and ACN CEO Adjunct Professor Kathryn Zeitz FACN in conversation with ACN Senior Media Adviser Lexi Metherell MACN. They explore how Professor Barakat-Johnson built her career as an internationally renowned skin integrity expert and founded a groundbreaking virtual wound care service at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney; and how Adjunct Professor Zeitz translated her nursing career into roles leading nursing research and hospital operations, including as Deputy CEO of the Central Adelaide Local Health Network. The webinar will also feature a preview of Nursing Career Pathways – a new ACN initiative designed to help nurses see what's possible, understand how to move between roles and settings, and make informed decisions that align with their goals, wellbeing and life circumstances. The session will then close with a live Q&A, facilitated by ACN National Director of Nursing - Education Dr Zachary Byfield MACN.
