This course introduces nurses to the essential role they play in addressing planetary health and responding to global environmental change, aligned with the ICN’s 2025 vision of nursing as a driver of ecological justice and system-wide wellbeing. Integrating four key modules, it explores the science of climate change and its health impacts in the Australian context, equips you with practical strategies for climate adaptation and community resilience, and develops your ability to implement sustainable, low-emission practices within healthcare. The course also examines the broader influence of nursing in shaping policy, governance, and advocacy, with a strong emphasis on equity and the importance of First Nations leadership in climate and health responses. By the end, you will be prepared to embed climate-responsive, sustainable approaches into everyday practice while contributing to healthier communities and a more resilient health system.
