Shingles (herpes zoster) is a vaccine-preventable disease that causes significant pain and complications. With recent changes to the National Immunisation Program and the deregistration of Zostavax in December 2024, nurse immunisers need to stay current with ATAGI recommendations for Shingrix. This CPD module provides an evidence-based 2026 update on shingles, covering clinical presentation, at-risk populations, current NIP eligibility, and safe vaccine preparation and administration. Designed for immunisers practising in Australia, it supports confident, accurate, and person-centred vaccination practice.
