Healthcare workers and other occupational groups can be at increased risk of exposure to vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) and may also have close contact with people who are particularly vulnerable to infection, including older adults, children and people who are immunocompromised. This CPD module explores vaccination recommendations for people at occupational risk, including the importance of protecting both workers and the vulnerable people in their care. It examines key vaccine-preventable diseases, occupational vaccination requirements, and the current recommendations of the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI). By completing this module, participants will develop a greater understanding of occupational vaccination recommendations and the role vaccination plays in reducing the transmission of VPDs and protecting individuals, patients and the wider community.
