Responsive behaviour management focuses on understanding and addressing behaviours of concern through person-centred, individualised care. Non-pharmacological strategies are prioritised to support safe and effective care, with restrictive practices used only as a last resort when there is a risk of harm. Any use of restraint must be lawful, clinically justified, documented, and regularly reviewed. Effective management also requires recognising challenging behaviours and distinguishing delirium from dementia to ensure appropriate assessment and care.
