  • Conduct comprehensive wound assessments and formulate accurate diagnoses
  • Identify and classify common wound aetiologies
  • Apply infection prevention and control principles to wound care
  • Understand documentation best practices, including clinical photography
  • Demonstrate awareness of factors influencing wound healing
  • Overview of the Aged Care Standards and compliance requirements to support best practice outcomes
  • Demonstrate culturally safe wound care, respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ values, beliefs, and holistic health needs.
  • Apply clear, respectful communication and involve families and communities in care planning.

 

Biography

Hayley Ryan is a internationally recognised Clinical Nurse Consultant with over 20 years of experience specialising in advanced wound care. Since 2016, she has led WoundRescue Pty Ltd, advancing equitable access to specialist wound care through in-home, telehealth and digital pathways across Australia and New Zealand.

 

Fees

The Australian College of Nursing, in partnership with the Australian Government and the Department of Health and Aged Care, is offering the Wound Care Short Courses Scholarship.

This scholarship is open exclusively to First Nations people (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners).
