About the speakers

Dr Ruth Mursa Research Fellow/OCEAN Project Manager, University of Wollongong

Ruth is the project manager for the OCEAN Projects' nursing streams. Ruth recently completed her PhD in July 2025 at the University of Wollongong, exploring men’s engagement with general practice. Before this Ruth spent almost 30 years working in primary care/ general practice and has extensive clinical experience as both a general practice nurse and nurse practitioner.

Asha Beattie - PhD Candidate, University of Wollongong

Asha is a registered nurse and PhD candidate at the University of Wollongong. She completed a Bachelor of Nursing (First Class Honours), during which her research explored the experiences of carers supporting people living with dementia. Asha has clinical experience across aged care, community health, and acute care settings. As part of her PhD, Asha is examining the general practice nurse workforce in Australian general practice through the OCEAN study.

Professor Liz Halcomb FACN - Professor of Primary Health Care, University of Wollongong

An international award-winning nurse academic, Liz leads a strong research program in Primary Health Care (PHC) nursing. Liz is co-lead of the Nursing stream of the OCEAN project.

 

Dr Sue Randall - Professor (Primary Care) - University of Sydney, School of Public Health

Sue is a highly experienced clinical and academic nurse with over 35 years' experience and co-lead of the Nursing stream of the OCEAN project.
